FG LAUNCH EROSION CONTROL PROJECTS

The Federal Government on Tuesday launched 3 projects at three locations at the nation’s capital. The projects bordered on erosion control, they were funded and executed by the Ecological Fund Office.

The projects are located at Gurku Karu L.G.A, the University of Abuja main campus and Kuje Area Council in the F.C.T.

Barrister Mohammed H Abdullahi, the Minister of State for Science and Technology, was the Special Guest and the representative of the Federal Government who launched and commissioned the projects on behalf of the President Muhammadu Buhari.

Barrister Mohammed said that the projects are in line with President Buhari’s promise that no part of the country would suffer neglect due to its geographical location or political considerations.

The Minister said, “I have no doubts in my mind that this Federal Government’s intervention will bring a huge relief generally to the community who have for a very long time been stressed by the ecological challenges.”

He further stressed the importance of the project in improving the lives of the communities who are direct beneficiaries. He said, “The living standards of the people in the community and its environs would be enhanced. This would at the same time reduce dangers to lives and properties associated with erosion and persistent flooding”.

He expressed assurance and optimism, that the projects will no doubt provide a window of opportunities for economic growth of the communities.

On The Federal Governments drive to implement and honour contractual agreements, he said “Let me underscore the present administration’s determination to continue with the implementation of all genuine Government policies, agreements and contracts at both National and International Levels”.

Barrister Mohammed charged the beneficiary communities, to protect the projects and ensure that the lifetime of the erosion control projects serve the communities properly.
